Although already out in her native Australia, Kate Miller-Heidke released her Nightflight album in the US this week and The Music Network recently caught up with her to discuss the project.
The record debuted at #2 on the ARIA Album chart, being held off the top spot by the One Direction juggernaut. Reviews have been favourable too, with the praise centered around both Miller-Heidke’s accomplished songwriting and Nuttall’s production flair. After four years, the reviews come as a relief (Miller-Heidke admits she read reviews of her work “more often than I should”) but it seems she is happier to just have the project wrapped and available for consumption. “It’s a great feeling, there’s that old hackneyed expression that its like giving birth, but it’s a culmination of a lot of work and it’s fun. It’s fun to get to hear the songs through other people’s ears for the first time.”
