Herbie Hancock’s new album The Imagine Project is in stores now and he sat down with the folks at CBS Radio’s Street Date to give a track-by-track rundown of the story behind each song on the album. Of “Tomorrow Never Knows” featuring Dave Matthews, he said:

“Originally Dave Matthews recorded and composed a completely different song. We recorded it and put the whole thing together in the recording studio and two months later we found out that Dave decided he hated the song. Anyway, in a matter of days he put something together, “Tomorrow Never Knows,” a Beatles song from the album Revolver. And so we took the track that he recorded and some prepared piano and some synthesizer and I was really happy about this song cause there’s nothing else on the record that sounds like that it has this kind of electronic psychedelic flavor to it.”
