Tired Pony relaxes in the World Cafe

Gary Lightbody, the lead singer of Snow Patrol, has assembled a supergroup under the name Tired Pony to explore his affinity for country music and American culture in general. The band includes Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey of R.E.M., Richard Colburn of Belle and Sebastian, and Snow Patrol’s Iain Archer and his wife Miriam Kaufmann. The band’s debut album, The Place We Ran From, also includes collaborations with She & Him and Editors. They recently sat down with David Dye for World Cafe session. Good Old War were more than good on The World Cafe

The World Cafe session for Philadelphia’s Good Old War aired nationally yesterday and their performance was nothing short of stellar. NPR now has the entire segment archived, including their intimate one-mic performances of “That’s Some Dream,” “Coney Island,” “My Own Sinking Ship,” and Window.” You can check it out here.

The band also just finished their latest headlining tour with a show in Cambridge, MA on Sunday which featured a packed house singing along to every word. The folks at the Boston Herald were in attendance and filed a great review of the show, saying “Their glorious two- and three-part harmonies carried the day.” Read the entire review and see a video clip from the show here.

World Cafe airs Dr. Dog and Danielia Cotton sessions

Last week, the syndicated World Cafe show aired sessions with two Right Arm Resource artists. On August 13, local Philadelphia band Dr. Dog joined host David Dye for the latest installment of the Lillywhite Sessions, performing four songs from their new cd Fate with famed producer Steve Lillywhite at the board. To hear their performances of “The Ark,” “Talk,” “The Old Days,” and “Hang On,” click here.
